1. The programme of the 8th SIMM-posium - organised in and with the Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre (Griffith University) in Brisbane, Australia, from 20 to 22 November 2023 - is really impressive! You can still register to attend it in person or online. The programme and information on registrations can be found via this page of the SIMM website.2. We plan our 7th research seminar from 15 to 17th April 2024 at the London based Guildhall School, organised in a close collaboration with both the Guildhall School and the Ghent University based Chair Jonet. The focus of this research seminar will be the role of composition (and composers) within participatory music projects. Deadline for applications is 15th December 2023, and information of the small group of scholars selected (maximum 20) for this 3-day research seminar will be communicated before 15th January. You can find the call for applications here.3. After a break of one year, we will these coming weeks broadcast several new episodes of the SIMM-podcast. You will be able to find them on most podcast directories, and find an overview here. The new podcast-episodes which are now finalised, are:
(1) During the 16th episode of the SIMM-podcast we interview Barbara Hesser and Brydie-Leigh Bartleet who co-edited the Compendium on Music as a Global Resource.(2) Two more podcasts-episodes will be broadcast before the end of November on research on participatory opera and music theatre practice, following the June 2023 research seminar on this topic at the Barcelona Teatro de Liceu, and in preparation of the September 2024 research seminar we are planning with Chair Jonet and Guildhall School on this field of research.
